Features include a proprietary graphite composite rod blank,AFTCO lightweight roller stripper and roller tip guide, and Fuji heavy-frame guides. An Extended foregrip offers protection when a big halibut pins the rod against the boat rail, and a slick reargrip provides easy in and out access from rod holders. G.Loomis' product development staff tested almost 90 different rods to come up with the exact right action, length, component selection and grip design - charter captains in Sitka, Seward and throughout the Alaskan panhandle provided the on-the-water expertise. With all this emphasis put on just one rod for this very specific fishery, the HLBR72-50C could be considered the ultimate rod for big, barn door-sized Alaskan halibut.
