| Trout are a lot of
fun to catch. Steelhead too. And bonefish. Heck, they're all
fun. But be honest. Deep down in your psyche, swimming around
somewhere in the ichthyology department of your cranium are
watery visuals of tarpon. Chinook. Bluefish. Stripers. The big
stuff. It's hard enough to catch them with standard gear. If
you're going after them with a fly, you need all the help you
can get. Well, when you want to catch big fish with big flies,
you quite obviously need a big rod. And our 10 to 12-weights
are the tools to help make it happen. We build these rods with
more aggressive tapers and stiffer butt sections, giving you
greater casting authority and big-time fighting strength. They
offer tremendous lifting and leveraging power, can cast a
Bahamian mile in the wind, yet feel so light and snappy you'll
wonder if they're of this world. (They are, but just barely.)
Big and tough as they are, though, they'll still present a fly
with remarkable accuracy to cruising targets. Check out the
#10s for stripers and bluefish, or, on the other end of the
scale, the #12s for giant tarpon in windy conditions. |

FR10810
Length: 9' Line: 10
Our 9' 10-weight is the second most popular choice among saltwater
anglers. This rod is designed to handle big streamer flies, size 2 and
above, and it's capable of pushing bigger flies at fairly reasonable
distances. Also good for weighted flies and heavily weighted sinking
fly lines, it comes with a larger diameter fighting butt for
cushioning when playing bigger fish. This is also an excellent
light-duty tarpon rod. After all, they're not all hundred pounders.

FR12010 Length: 10'
Line: 10
This is a specialized rod, designed to surf fish for stripers and
bluefish. You can also use it for large salmon situations where you
need to cast bigger flies at longer range. GLX graphite makes this
model feel incredibly light (more like an 8-weight), and it has more
than enough power for heroic casts with big flies.

FR10812 Length: 9'
Line: 12
The 9' 12-weight is your all-around best choice for tarpon of 60
pounds or more. This rod is designed to cast and present flies with
power and precision. Because it loads into the middle of the rod a
bit, it's definitely what you'd call a ''caster's rod'' compared to
our heavier Mega Taper saltwater rods.

FR10812-3 Length: 9'
Line: 12 Pieces: 3 Travel
This is a three-piece travel version of the tarpon GLX rod outlined
above. It actually has a slightly stiffer tip in the top 24'' of the
rod compared to the two-piece version, yet retains the easy-to-load
characteristics of a presentation casting rod, with ample power for
fighting big fish.
