This delicate four-weight rod is designed for fishing small flies and light leaders. It's a good choice if your usual outings take you to narrow, brush-lined streams where casting room is limited. Most of  fishing fanatics at G·Loomis, having learned to fly fish centuries ago, long before graphite rods were invented, were forced to hone our early skills using rods that now show up with alarming regularity at antique shops and garage sales. We're talking about fly rods that weighed approximately eight thousand pounds. Rods with actions so lethargic, you were required to wait nine or ten weeks after a backcast before you could send your line out in the opposite direction.
