Loomis Surf Series Fishing Rods
|
| The
Surf Series is a collection of
extremely powerful, lightweight
spinning and casting rods that
give you unbelievable distance
with accuracy and authority.
Compared to garden variety surf
rods (and even some spendy
ones), these models offer
greater strength, increased
sensitivity, and, most
importantly, a faster recovery.
Recovery is the time it takes a
rod, after being loaded and
cast, to return to a
"quiet," straight
position. This is paramount when
casting for distance: the faster
a rod returns to its quiet
position, the less line friction
you experience; the less
friction you experience, the
further your lure sails. It's
the one factor that increases
casting distance more than any
other, no matter what size lure
or bait you use. Combine that
with the feathery weight of
these rods and you have an
unbeatable combination. We
design the action of the Surf
Series to give you exceptional
accuracy and the power to handle
big stripers, blues or drum from
the beach or rocks. Their
handles vary from cork grips to
hypalon to cork tape, depending
on the use and overall handle
length.

Designed
to toss bombers and the like
along the rip-rap, this is a
surprisingly strong,
lightweight spinning rod. It
makes a nice pier or bridge
rod, and you can wade with it
all day long because it weighs
only 9 ounces. It's great for
throwing live minnows or cut
bait to sheepshead, redfish,
kings, stripers or blues. The
perfect big permit rod for
casting crabs around
deep-water "blue
holes" or wrecks. And it
has plenty of lifting power,
yet a soft enough tip to throw
light jigs or shrimp. An
extra-long handle offers added
casting and fish-fighting
leverage, and it's equipped
with a hypalon foregrip and
cork tape rear grip.Click

This
medium-heavy power spinning
rod was designed mainly to
throw bait or jigs for cobia
and amberjack. A great
light-duty rod for small
tarpon and barracuda on the
flats, it won't let you down
when the big one tries to
steal your bait. It has enough
power to fish the bridges and
piers and it's light enough to
wade with and cast all day
long. If you like fishing off
the jetty, this makes a good
utility rod. It has a long
handle with cork grips and a
graphite barrel reel seat,
capable of casting a couple of
ounces or more. A great
all-around spinning rod, even
in freshwater.

| We
designed this medium-heavy rod
to fish lures in the one to
four-ounce range for stripers,
blues and drum. It has a
surprising amount of power for
a light rod, making it an
excellent choice for tailrace
stripers in freshwater. And
thanks to its extra-long
handle, you get added leverage
for fighting big fish without
overpowering the smaller
catches often found on the
East Coast.

SUR1266S
Length: 10'6"
Power: 6 Pieces: 2
Spinning
Wonderfully
lightweight, this medium-heavy
power surf stick is rated for
15 to 40-pound line and lures
up to 4 ounces. Designed to
handle blues, stripers, drum,
cobia and other surf species,
it excels at throwing cedar
plugs, sting silvers and
similar baits. Light,
sensitive and responsive are
the words that best describe
this rod, but don't let
"light" mislead you.
Progressive power throughout
the blank allows you to cast a
country mile and whip big fish
in a hurry. It's also
excellent for freshwater
applications like long-range
casts on tail-races for big
stripers, or plunking for
salmon and steelhead on the
Columbia. The handle is extra
long for added casting and
fish-fighting leverage, with a
hypalon foregrip and cork-tape
rear grip.

Here's
a heavy-duty surf casting
stick, rated for 20 to
40-pound line and lures
ranging from 2 to 8 ounces.
It's designed to throw big
plugs, heavy metal or bait out
to the big rips where the
king-size stripers and blues
make their own chum line. The
handle is extra long for added
casting and fish-fighting
leverage, with a cork-tape
grip and a durable rubber
fighting butt. When a big bull
red heads for the edge, this
rod lets you tell him
"No" with authority.
Bottom line: this is a serious
big fish rod with more power
than anyone has ever put into
such a lightweight package.
You'll be amazed at how
effortless casting can be with
such a heavy duty rod.

With

oversize stripers, blues and

throw an ounce and a half of
metal well beyond the first
bar. If you spend some time
chasing tail-race stripers in
freshwater, this rod will
handle both big fish and heavy
water. The handle is extra
long for added leverage, with
a cork-tape grip, a fixed

"country mile" comes

Casting

When
you need the power to throw an
eight-ounce sinker and four
ounces of bait out over the
horizon, the 1448 is the
answer. Add to that the
sensitivity to telegraph light
bites, the strength to set the
hook from a quarter mile away,
and the ability to handle big
drum or stripers with ease,
and you can see why this is
the best big-surf stick in the
business. The rod's a
two-piece, with an eight-foot
tip and a four-foot
butt-section. The handle is
cork tape with a heavy-duty,
positive locking reel seat,
capable of handling big reels
for extended casting range. If
you don't surf fish, get one
anyway. The next time your
boat gets loose from the dock
you can cast a grappling hook
and reel it back in.
