That's precisely the idea behind our new Adventure Series. Whether you're a complete novice, or simply some unfortunate soul who's been shackled for years with one of Uncle Bruno's hand-me-down relics, the Adventure Series is for you. Designed by 26-time national casting champion, Steve Rajeff, these medium-action rods load easily at short casting distances, yet, unlike many beginner's models, they also cast admirably as your line speed and casting distance increase. Beautifully crafted with a chrome reel seat, chrome guides, a handsome, dark rosewood insert, and finished with a unique, high-gloss earth-tone lacquer, the Adventure Series is as lovely as it is affordable. Each rod comes in a soft, protective rod sock encased in a rugged, aluminum tube. It's enough to make us want to forget how to fish and start all over again. Almost.

FR904     Length: 7'6"     Line: 4     Pieces: 2     New
This delicate four-weight rod is designed for fishing small flies and light leaders. It's a good choice if your usual outings take you to narrow, brush-lined streams where casting room is limited. Despite its lightness, this rod can still handle good-sized trout, but its prime quarry would be panfish and small trout in the 8 to 14 inch range.

FR964     Length: 8'     Line: 4     Pieces: 2     New
If you tend to fish slightly larger streams with crystal clear water, which often requires smaller flies for success, the FR964 is a good choice. The extra length gives you a little more line control, and the rod's action is soft enough for delicate presentations. An excellent dry fly rod.

FR1084     Length: 9'     Line: 4     Pieces: 2     New
The 1084 excels on larger streams and rivers where longer casts are required, and when float tubing on lakes where you need a little more length to cast while sitting at water level. This is also a good choice for nymph fishing, where the nine-foot length aids in handling longer leaders and sink-tip lines.

Most of  fishing fanatics at G·Loomis, having learned to fly fish centuries ago, long before graphite rods were invented, were forced to hone our early skills using rods that now show up with alarming regularity at antique shops and garage sales. We're talking about fly rods that weighed approximately eight thousand pounds. Rods with actions so lethargic, you were required to wait nine or ten weeks after a backcast before you could send your line out in the opposite direction. So you can understand our long-standing desire to create a line of fly rods for beginners that outperform all others. Rods that actually make it easy - blasphemy! - yes, easy to learn to fly cast. And not just that. Rods that also continue to help you excel long after those initial forays into the world of fly fishing have faded.
