Gloomis Saltwater Series Bay Rods

Our Saltwater Series Bay Rods are lightweight, powerful, one-piece rods designed for casting or trolling on inshore waters. Oddly enough, we originally designed them for freshwater use (big muskies), but the California crowd discovered their versatility for use in saltwater and began requesting them. So we did some fine tuning, changed their handles, and now they're a popular segment of our Saltwater Series line-up. What makes these rods so effective? For starters, an aggressive, fast taper gives them lots of backbone, but the tips are flexible enough to protect your line and provide effortless casting. On the "left" coast, you can use them to pitch small iron or live bait to small tuna, yellowtail or calico bass. On the "right" coast, they're great for albacore, stripers, small grouper or cobia. They may be lightweights in just about every sense of the word, but they're surprisingly powerful

SWR786C Length: 6'6" Power: 6 Casting A powerful, 6'6" casting/jigging rod, the SWR786 fishes plastics as well as live bait around the rocks. It's an excellent night time "breakwater" rod for big calico bass on boat docks or seawalls. And it excels at jigging for bottom fish, especially ling cod or halibut up North. Comes with a long handle for added leverage, with cork grips and a trigger reel seat.

SWR843C Length: 7' Power: 3 Casting This smooth, light-duty casting rod is the East Coast's favorite for blackfish. And it fishes plastics and small jigs quite well for a number of inshore species, including schoolie stripers, albacore, yellowtail and calico bass. Crossing over, it's a really good buzzbait or spinner rod for large pike or muskie. And it's a heck of a good rod for fishing the new "big bass" lures like the Castaic Trout or TNT. It has a long handle for added leverage, with cork grips and trigger reel seat. Almost forgot: it's also lots of fun jigging for rockfish or snappers.

It has the power to move large surprises, yet it's still light enough to fish all day. A good choice for rooster fish, small grouper and other species found around the rocky shorelines of Baja. Powerful enough to handle tarpon, cobia and big barracuda, it has a long handle for added leverage, with cork grips and a trigger reel seat.
