Hybrid saltwater fishing rods |
| To
pull a grouper away from the
rocks or gain line on a big
marlin, you need to recover not
only the flex in the rod and the
stretch in the line, you need to
put as much additional line on
your reel as fast as you
possibly can. That's precisely
the advantage of our Hybrid
Series rods. This high-tech
lineup of trolling and stand-up
rods set the standard for big
game performance and design.
They are, in a word, the
ultimate. Using the latest
technology, we blend woven
graphite in the butt to increase
stiffness and reduce weight.
Woven graphite is unbelievably
strong, allowing us to actually
gain stiffness and strength
while using up to 75% less
material. Then we add uni-directional
graphite in the mid-section, a
material that recovers rapidly,
to help put line back on your
reel in a hurry. This helps you
"lock up" while
lifting so, unlike with
fiberglass rods, the more you
lift, the more pressure's put on
the fish. Finally, we use an
E-glass tip-section that acts as
a shock absorber and protects
your line from the last-minute
surges of big fish at boatside.
Sure, it all sounds technical,
but here's the bottom line:
these rods are unbeatable for
strength, lifting power and
durability, and they'll put more
fish in your boat. Period. AFTCO
roller guides are standard on
the six-foot models, while the
longer rods feature braced,
ceramic ring guides.

Roller guides with Trolling
Butt
An
unbelievably lightweight IGFA
50-pound class rod designed to
fish offshore species like
marlin, tuna or amberjack.
It's a great stand-up rod
that's equipped to handle most
trolling situations as well.
The Trolling Butt rear grip is
a lot easier to get in and out
of the rod holder and it's
much more durable than hypalon.
A removable rubber butt-cap
covers the gimbal should you
decide not to use a fighting
belt, but that's not a real
good plan unless you're built
like an action figure.

Length: 6' Line:

Roller guides with Trolling
Butt
Probably
the lightest, most powerful
80-pound rod in the business.
Designed for big fish and big
water, this is a heavy-duty
stand-up rod with offshore
trolling capabilities. Tuna,
sharks, amberjack and grouper
are the targeted species, plus
it's a great rod for the big
sturgeon of the Columbia and
Snake Rivers in the Pacific
Northwest. You can fish a lot
of lead and use wire line if
necessary. The Trolling Butt
rear grip is a lot easier to
get in and out of the rod
holder and it's extremely
durable. A removable, rubber
butt-cap covers the gimbal
should you decide not to use a
fighting belt, but it's a
pretty safe bet you're going
to want the belt.

Length: 6' Line:

Roller guides with Trolling
Butt
The
powerhouse of the Hybrid
Series. Rated for IGFA
130-pound, this is the mega
rod for stand-up anglers
chasing big marlin, giant tuna
and oversize sharks. The
Trolling Butt rear grip makes
this beast a lot easier to get
in and out of the rod holder.
Technically, we call it a
stand-up rod, and in theory
standing might be possible.
But reality dictates, at the
very least, a harness. And
unless you're looking forward
to some offshore backstroking,
a fighting chair is
recommended as well.
